Apparently argos are going to sell this so anyone who wants one monitor their site, 'very' told me they only got allocated 60 for their entire UK preorders. So seems nintendo are artifically keeping demand high with poor stock levels.
People already reselling on ebay for silly prices.

I managed to get one from Amazon and I must admit with the price I'm tempted to stick it on Ebay.
Speaking of console ordering, I find it weird that the Xbox one X still isn't up for pre-order anywhere. Usually, the consoles can be pre-ordered when announced at E3.

Are Nintendo still locking down the system for home-brew development isn't encouraged ?

how on earth did you get on there in the 24 minute window?
There was no advance notice of when it would appear.
I think nintendo have clearly instigated a deliberate shortage, this is beyond a joke.
Normally pre ordering is done to allow them to know how much to manufacture, its just electronic stock, but seems nintendo have decided to only make X amount anyway making pre ordering pointless.

Anyone who buys or, worse still, collects amiibos is all too familiar with this pattern. Simple toy, relatively easy to manufacture, is impossible to find. There are preorders, there are email lists, theres price gouging from scalpers on marketplaces like eBay.
As of Oct. 2015, Nintendo sold over 21 million amiibos, an impressive figure to be sure for just one year. Meanwhile, Activision had some sold 250 million Skylanders figures as of June 2015, less than four years after the franchise debuted. You dont hear about Skylanders scalping much, do you?
So either Nintendo is constraining supply, in order to drive hype and awareness and the allure of exclusivity a holiday narrative as applicable to the NES Classic as it was for Tickle Me Elmo

I have a friend who knows how to script web page monitors etc so when a page changes it can send you an alert. He just did that for the page (I believe the page was made up when it was announced but then removed), They didn't change the link though so when available the alert came up and boom order placed.

Isn't this standard practice for Nintendo? doesn't work on me as not in the slightest bit interested.
Got a working NES packed away, makes me think I should try my luck at a silly price on ebay, maybe someone will bite.
