The entirety of Far Cry 5�s story will be playable in co-op as part of the Friends For Hire system. It will work akin to Far Cry 4�s multiplayer, although will allow cooperative play of every mission in the game rather than just outpost quests. We went hands on with the game in co-op and it proved even more chaotic and fun than solo mode.

You will be able to share health and ammo packs between you, but only the host will be able to accept missions, recruit and command Guns For Hire, and keep the progress gained in Hope County. Find a selfless friend if you do not have one already.

You�ll have no trouble with the 980 at 1080p mate.

Gold looks good if they are horde modes, but I�ll probably just stick with standard to begin with.

Far Cry 4 was probably the best open world game I ever played. I remember Swanny hanging onto a rope underneath the one seat gyrocopter. This time there�s a float plane.....spoil sports!

Sounds fun only one I have played is FC3, was good but didn't grab me enough to complete it.

I was the same with FC3. Spent many hours driving the car off of, or down cliffs into the sea. Never finished the central mission.

FC4 was excellent though. Loved ambushing bad guys long after I�d finished the story mode. FC5 looks even better still.

Probably uses DX12 for higher resolutions, and perhaps DX10/11 for lower ones - or older graphics cards

Not looking good. It might be wise to wait a while. Loads of people are complaining about how bad it is. It basically sounds unplayable. Looks like it's going to need some massive/extensive patching done...

Yeah, it's usually best to wait and see a good amount of reviews before buying. I'm in no hurry anyway, will likely wait for a price drop.

£20 cheaper than on Steam... Even better for the Deluxe version...

Been playing it a for a couple of days but now for some unknown reason it won't start

I'd forgotten about the joys of PC gaming

I tried this and it loads but then just freezes.

Here is the way I solved the problem. In the properties of FarCry5.exe in the game directory choose to launch the program in the compatibility mode with windows 8. Now the game launches perfect for me.

Sounds obvious, but have you tried signing out of uplay and back in again? Also, is uplay linked to your Steam account? Mine was, and I �unlinked� it. Steam [censored] about with the controller settings all the time, but the game automatically recognises it as a DS4, without the need for the Input Mapper [DS4 tool].

I had a nightmare trying to get a stable frame rate after using the Nvidia control panel to change the native frequncy of my screen down to 30Hz. so I decided that restarting after every change was safest. Now it sits locked at 30fps in 4k High. It manages 4k Ultra at around 50fps, but rare[ish] drops then go below 30fps and I can�t tolerate stutter on any game.

So solid 30fps is best. I�ve had four or five crashes so far, and I can�t record gameplay at all for some reason. Shadowplay records a black screen in game, but manages to capture the menus. Wondershare captures sound only, and GameDVR doesn�t recognise it as a game, full stop. Which is a shame because my 60mph head on collision with a Bison on a quad bike [me on the quad bike, not the Bison] was hilarious, and is what FarCry open worlds have always been about for me.

I�ve tried turning off the uplay in game overlay, but to no avail.

Also, the arcade mode has some fun user created content. Haven�t been anywhere near the PvP rubbish, just assault and survival modes. You earn money and perk points every game you play, but surprise surprise, a glitch is stopping them from bolstering your ampaign mode finances. The banner says something along the lines of �We are aware of the problem with arcade mode - please bear with us.�

So aside from the problems what do you guys think of the game? worth getting at the current price?

I will hopefully be getting 76 Mbit FTTP installed next week which will make downloading new games much less painful than the current 5-6 Mbps we get. Hopefully also stop the horrible lag spikes I get currently.

Tried the signing out bit and it's not linked to my steam account. Doesn't make sense as it was running fine and I'd done quite a bit already with my red neck friends but now it's [censored]

The games great when it works. I paid £40 for it and I'm happy about that part. I just wish I could play the feckin thing

Do you start it with the button in Uplay, or from the desktop?

Have you tried running the exe as admin?

Have you tried directly are a hard reset?

I still think Windows has memory management problems, in that previously allocated memory isn't being freed or isn't available when it should be - there have been quite a few occasions where some program won't work after exiting a previous one and yet it will after a reboot...

Hmmm.

The four or five occasions it has crashed on me so far, it landed at an �Ooops! It�s crashed� window in Uplay, where you can send a crash report. I wonder if the crash has caused a conflict with your privacy/firewall settings in some way? Have you tried launching Uplay in offline mode?

I was playing it again last night. Something to do with being online. I had been allowing it to access the net through zone alarm but only each time it asked. The other day I set it to remember my choice and that's when it went wrong. I allow access but there's one last option that I don't have time to click before the game starts so I guess that's it

Bloddy typical I bought it on the PC so that I could play it online with you lot haha

49lb Sturgeon and I reeled in another that I think was even bigger but got shot and killed by the pikeys just as it was landed so I never saw the weight

I can play the game ok now (as long as I haven't clicked the last zonealarm allow) but when I leave I have to reset everything to get my PC back online. Right pain in the [censored]

windows firewall, behind a router is more than enough.

Is all I�ve used for the last 3 years or so. Got fed up with performance getting bogged down by most third party options. Don�t even get me started on Norton 360...

You can�t just turn it off mate. A/V software can be draconian in and of itself. You�re better off completely deleting Zone Alarm if you intend to use Defender.

seems also various a/v companies are removing firewall from their products, they now admitting its not needed on modern versions of windows.

emsisoft and avira to name a couple.

I stuck to Windows protection on 7 and 10. I used a free version of Avast for a while whilst running 7 on my laptop. After deleting it I realised my i5 2450M wasn�t anything like as dated as it had been feeling.

I recommend staying away from the PC version

There are better games for the PC anyway

Might even be worth going back to FC 2 - the respawning of people at checkpoints gets annoying, but you do get to see the lovely night sky in Africa!

Shocking that it�s such hard work to find that advice in the first place though.

Shouldn't need compatibility mode either... It sounds like the game looks for/uses libraries that are only for Windows 7 and below

I was happy with Windows 7, but the free offer to upgrade to Windows 10 and have support for longer won me over.
Also as a gamer having an OS that supported DX12 was a huge selling point.
