Argos Monitor returns

[link to this post]

My monitor died a few weeks ago, It was a rather nice Asus MG279Q WQHD 144Hz IPS jobby. Had it for many years.

I didnt have the ££ for another like it so had to settle for an Acer VG24 Something or other.
Specs not important.

But once I got it home it had a massive blob of dead pixels in the top left.

Argos did not have anymore of the same model so i waited a bit as there is a 30day window to return for exchange/refund.

No more came into stock and I saw I could get an MSI MAG241CP for £30 extra and went an did the exchange.

Problem is... the VA panel MSI have decided to use in this thing is HOT GARBAGE.

It's a VA panel and I knew this going in but these days they are quite good. Nope. Not this one!

Smearing all over the place and looks like a hot mess.

Do we think I could take it back for a refund or exchange back to the Acer I had before? (Its in stock again) There is nothing "wrong" with the monitor but I feel it being marketed as a gaming monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate is bonkers!

Might give them a call in the morning and see what they have to say about it.

In the mean time, thoughts?

Is it just "tough [censored]" and I will have to live with it.. if i cant get it swapped out then im going to have to sell this on and see what i can get else where.

As long as it is within your 30 days you shouldn't have any problems.

Also i agree about VA panels but you can reduce ghosting/smearing by lowering from 144 to 120 hz. (sometimes)
