Enter the dragon and get burnt Gaikai is very unlikely to be coming to Europe
By the time Gaikai service (if at all ) comes to Europe Microsoft will have thier own
Microsoft all ready have a cloud service and dedicated servers for every game , on release .
As I look out of my window I can see my fibre cabanit , I would not be getting a xbone if I didn't have fibre, Its only right that a next gen console would need a next gen connection .
If you don't have at the very least a ADSL2+ connection I would opt for the PS4 and not the Xbone but I do and I'm going for the console that's more than just uprated hardware , that has real innovation .
And hell , I'm going to say It " I want the DRM back " so developers get what they want and we get a future in gaming based on future technologies and not things from the past like optical drives .

Do you really think that Sony will let Microsoft lead the way with there cloud based gaming service, regardless of what Microsoft have there is no way Sony will let Microsoft take the spoils if this is the future in cloud gaming.
Gaikai you say won't be coming to Europe where this is Sonys dominate market is hard to swallow if you ask me,Bert I'm all for your views and opinions but you have made the same about turn as Microsoft regarding your personal preference in consoles given your original points of view .
I hope personally both succeed as this is the best result for gamers, only Microsoft have a lot of convincing to do to win back a lot of there supporters that have eloped to the Playstation platform.
You are putting a lot of hope and faith in Microsoft and there cloud gaming,I do hope you don't end up been completly disillusioned and disappointed .
Be interesting to see what you have to say about your Xbox One in 3 weeks time ,that's if you decide to keep it !

You are also presuming that I care about playstation 1 ,2 and 3 games that can be streamed through the cloud service which I'm not.
I buy next generation consoles to play next generation games and don't care less about backward compatibility .
But I read your link about the Sony service and it's a good point but personally makes no difference to me as as far as I'm concerned we don't even need cloud gaming.
I have plenty of games to play online without the need of the cloud so who cares.

From your link. It seems unlikely Microsoft will beat Sony to market and is apparently referring to the streaming service as just a prototype internally right now. But for anyone concerned about how they are going to continue playing their 360 games a few years from now, Microsoft may have an answer soon that doesnt require you to own a functioning Xbox 360. from your other link. Sony's pledge to allow previous-generations of games to be played on the PS4 through its cloud-streaming service Gaikai won't be fulfilled in Europe until at least 2015, the company has admitted.

I know Plummers are very creative with their figures but to me a few years is 2015 at the earliest .
So your point is ?

The point is there is no difference between the two of them apart from Microsoft's claims of cloud computation boosting the new Xbox's hardware capabilities, which is accepted as nonsense industry wide.
Perhaps you can explain how it works, or more importantly, what happens when your connection takes a sudden dip? Does the frame rate struggle, does it drop to 720 or does it perhaps temporarily revert to black and white? Cloud computation is nonsense and likely always will be. By the time the infrastructure catches up, the expectations will be 10 times greater than they are now.
Streaming games face frame rate issues and controller input latency. Expecting "cloud computing" to make any meaningful addition to performance faces even more fundamental problems.
And I'm not a plumber.

Oh cloud computing is nonsense , I guess somebody forgot to tell Google .
Just because that's the most ignorant post in this thread , even more ignorent than the one where you retorted to being the spelling and grammer police or where you say I'm greedy for making profit from Sony fanboys . yeah I love brand loyalty's, such a easy hit for a fast buck .
I'm going to let things ride as I count on people like yourself to help me pay for my xbone .
Roll on the red line of death oh and I'm dyslexic but you already know that which makes you spell checking me rather disgusting and discriminatory .

Done a bit more reasearch and found the PS4 will be able to do the same cloud computing as the XBONE if developers choose to.
Microsoft has touted the Xbox One's cloud-computing capabilities, promising that the system's hardware resources can be freed up by accessing remote servers that handle AI and physics calculations. Those remote computations, Microsoft says, will allow the Xbox One, unlike the Xbox 360, to become more powerful over time.
]Sony Computer Entertainment's Shuhei Yoshida says that the PlayStation 4 can tap into similar technology, offloading processes that are typically handled locally to the cloud.[
Yoshida said that "of course" PS4 developers will be able to take advantage of cloud-based computing for their titles.
"Linking, matchmaking... there are already many computations being done on the cloud side," Yoshida said, adding that there are limitations to what processes can be offloaded to a remote computer, due to latency and bandwidth. [/quote]

I didn't pick you up on spelling. And Dyslexia doesn't make you an idiot. That's a conscious decision, like writing troll as your occupation.
You've got a link posted below you that explains what I just posted, but I guess we must all be stupid.
I don't have any problem with you preferring the Xbox One. I have a problem with people talking carp and then claiming those who call them on it are "backslappers". And time2die has always preferred his Xbox 360. How does that make him a Sony fanboy? I haven't slagged the Xbox One off, so why should I not be able to discuss my preference with others without you sticking your great big nose in? You'd put Steve Martin to shame.
So why not explain how it works Einstein, or else grow a pair and retract your twaddle?

A more comprenensive rebuttal from people who really do know their stuff.
My favourite bit is when asked what would happen if your connection drops:
"In the event of a drop-out - and we all know that internet can occasionally drop out, and I do say occasionally because these days it seems we depend on internet as much as we depend on electricity - the game is going to have to intelligently handle that," he suggested, somewhat weakly. Back to black and white it is then...
