Migrating from 2mb to 8mb

[link to this post]

Hi,

I am just migrating from plusnet to BT. The migration is in step 2 which means work has begun at the exchange, but my speed has not gone up from 2mbits to 6mbits. I guess this wont be moved over until the migration date? which is some 6 days away?

on the day of migration your line will get a new profile (usually overnight) which may prompt a disconnection or you may need to log in with the new user/password particulars. I don't believe anything will really be happening before then.

So how does the speed increase happen? does a engineer come out and mess around or is it done remotely with software?

My BT account gets activated tommorow, so I guess I should not see any speed increase until tommorow evening.

its a remote thing, the line drops and comes back up with the new profile. If its going to be done tonight I would leave the router off, as this can help avoid the dreaded "stuck profile".
