ADSL2+ Router

[link to this post]

Hi, following on from a thread Andrew and I recently started, I would like to be clear on something - I currently run a 3COM router which apparently can run DSL up to 8mb http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2004/q4/3com-g72.asp

My slight confusion is that on the marketing data [eBuyer] is says ADSL2+ compatible.

If I'm right in assuming that means ADSL2+ up to 8mb 'only', which reasonably cost router would anyone recommended to get the most from ADSL2+?

Thank you - Blue

best bet is to look the precise model up on the mfr web site, for example like this

Anything that is ADSL2+ will do over 8M as ADSL2 will do 12M so it won't comply with the standards otherwise.

This is the data sheet for the 3CRWE754G72-A claiming ADSL2+ compatibility ...

http://www.3com.com/other/pdfs/products/en_US/400837.pdf

Note 1 - It doesn't actually say anywhere on the document that this is the spec for the 3CRWE754G72-A, so I'm not 100% convinced the ADSL2+ compatibility claim is true. But this is the file you get when you click the "download datasheet" link at ...
http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/detail.jsp?tab=support&pathtype=support&sku=3CRWE754G72-A

Note 2 - If you click the "Printable Product Details" link at the above site, there is no mention of ADSL2+.

'Note 2 - If you click the "Printable Product Details" link at the above site, there is no mention of ADSL2+.'

And this is the bit I'm confused about - yes or no!

Oh well, not to worry, yet to sort PlusNet out :-)

Thanks - Blue

I think ianXX's point was that even though that spec sheet is offered for my router the exact model number differs!

Thanks for your time all the same - Blue

The 3Com OfficeConnect CRWE754G72-A Wireless 11g Firewall ADSL Router is the early model modem/router.
I would think it only compatible with ITU G.992.1 ADSL (G.DMT) 8 Mbit/s Downstream 1.0 Mbit/s Upstream standard, to confirm it telephone 3Com support UK Technical Advice. Tel: 01442 438 000
