Moving - require advice on New Broadband ISP

I will be moving home soon and will be forced to change my ISP.

I am currently on ntl: 2MB Broadband Unlimited, but my new house cannot be connected to the Cable network.

I have been with ntl ever since my Dial Up days, and have only ever used their services.

I am aware that they can connect using a BT line on their Virgin Broadband packages, but wondered if this forum could advise on any pitfalls or give adviceon who to go to for an unlimited connection.

In the past I have always looked to one provider for everything - currently having ntl for Internet, TV and Phone. but realise that this is not always the best course of action to take.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Looking at the informationon this site I am currently looking at BT, and Tiscali.

If you are really looking at all of the information on this site, I'm surprised you would choose either Tiscali or BT, most forum members would advise you to avoid those, together with one or two more.

Perhaps if you tell us what your budget is, what your download requirements are, how and when you use the web etc, we could give you some advice.

Not a recommendation, but SKY may offer you a 1-stop solution. I have no idea (or interest) if SKY offer a telephone service.

Bt can obviously supply your phone and broadband. Check out their vison tv package. Dont know a great deal about it but sounds like what you may be after?

If i was to move ISP it would be to BT.

Downside to BT is the absolutely apalling level of customer care/support etc. Offshore call centre is a PITA.

Thanks to all for your input - I have checked and Sky dont provide broadband service to this area as yet either.

As I will be forced to get BT to connect the phone line, and my company will be putting in a second BT line for working from home purposes, I may as well start with them - moving is such a hassle, it is probably worth the 12 month contract to reduce the stress!

I understand what you mean by their customer service - but then again - can it really be any worse than NTL?

Dont forget that just because you cant get sky's premium speed service, you should be able to get max adsl (8 mb) from them- same applies to any ISP, as long as your exchange is enabled you can go to anyone... good luck whatever you decide to do
