Confusion over connection.

I am a NewNet Home B Subscriber, so am now moving ISP's for obvious reasons.

The issue i am having is that when i check the details of my router, i get the following:

SNR Downstream - 12-12.5 dB
Line Attenuation - 48.1 dB
Data Rate - 4040 KBps
Interleaving is enabled.

My actual download speed (for today) according to ADSLGuide Speed Test is around 3300 KBps.

However when i use the broadband availability checker i get the following results:

When used with only postcode : 3.5-4 MB
When used with postcode and phone number : 1-1.5 MB

samknows.com states the following for my connection.

ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services

According to BT Wholesale, your line should be able to support a 1.5Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.

Standard ADSL RAG results:
[BT ADSL Code: AEGEGEA] You cannot receive 2Mbps ADSL
[BT ADSL Code: AEGEGEA] You may be able to receive 1Mbps ADSL
[BT ADSL Code: AEGEGEA] You can receive 512Kbps ADSL
[BT ADSL Code: AEGEGEA] You can receive 256Kbps ADSL

You are approximately 2.10km from the exchange (straight line distance).

What should i do as when i try to sign up for a new provider they wont let me have the ADSL Max service as they say i can't support it!

Do i need to get BTW to re check my settings (IP Profile?) before i think about moving?

Nothing wrong with the BT Wholesale results at all, it is just an ISP insisting on applying its own rules it appears.

The ISP in question was Bulldog (pipex).

However, what is more concerning is that i am currently connecting at 3.3MB but BT insist that i may only be able to connect at 1Mb??

If i move to another ISP will my line rate be dropped to 1MB because of the results from the availability checker?

I have also seen a lot of people referring to their bRAS Profile. Is this something that i need to know? (as i dont know what it is and cant be bothered to wait in a q at NewNet to find out).

Lastly, do the numbers i specified look right for a 4MB connection? as i seem to recall the highest i normally download at is 500 KBps and thats only on a good day (avg is 250-300KBps)

Well, looks like you had a lucky escape, then
