Unlimited Services

[link to this post]

Hi folks,

What ISPs other than AOL offer supposed unlimited services?

(Although I appreciate that this is now debatable with AOL)

Thanks

Despite what wrtpeeps says, there are plenty of genuinely unlimited accounts around if you don't mind paying for them.

They're usually known as business accounts and don't come cheap- IDNet and Zen both do good ones.

sorry, yeah. I was referring to home accounts.

Some ISP's dont let you signup for business unless you actually are business, or have i misinterpreted that someplace?

I think that BT won't put you on one of their own business accounts on a domestic line, but afaik the rest don't care as long as you pay at the end of the month

I think Namesco and Nildram still offer unlimited off-peak.

If you don't mind a 2M service then there are some unlimited packages. e.g. ukfsn for

Both Namesco and Nildram have clauses in their AUPs that allow them to turn you off if you start downloading (in their opinion) too much:

Namesco:

Bandwidth Usage.

If your bandwidth either exceeds the allowance set as part of your package/service or reaches the point where it has an adverse effect on other customers we reserve the right to:
disable your site, without prior notice, until you can reduce your bandwidth usage; or
charge you for excess bandwidth usage, over and above your package allowance, as published by us from time to time.

Nildram is similar, but it's in a PDF that I can't copy/paste from- here, under Internet Access

So it looks like there is now no truely unlimited 8M service without going to a business product.
