I currently have a 20m RJ11 to RJ11 ADSL line going from my downstairs ADSL microfilter to my router upstairs. I'm not sure if this is good or bad for speed, but they do make these cables this long. I do feel I'm getting a speed of 1-2 Mb below what my line can handle.
I have read on this site (http://www.adslnation.com/support/extensions.php) that "Standard Category 5 or Category 6 network cable can be used if available" instead of an my RJ11 to RJ11 ADSL line.
But how do I do this? My Ethernet cable doesn't fit into my microfilter. I have heard other people doing similar things. But I don't want to put my router downstairs either.
How do you do this? Or do you have any recommendations for running a cable from a single downstairs phone socket to my upstairs router without moving the router downstairs.
