Are these good stats.

These are my parents stats, they live about 8 miles out of town and have a local exchange about a mile away. Dont seem fantastic I just think its their isp (Tiscali) which are the problem peak they get 1/4 of a meg if lucky off peak 1 meg if lucky.

Which would be fine cept they pay for the 8 meg service.

Also I did change their dns settings to opendns and now web pages load MUCH faster before they lagged.

Your parents are on a 1 meg service not 8.

Last time I checked back in March I did get over 1 meg sometimes occasionally 2 and a half meg.

Will do a bt speedtest and see what it says

A fault perhaps on the line and the 8 meg has been changed to fixed 1 meg because it wasn't stable?

No fault, that's what their SP is providing them with..........

Definately time for a call to your ISP to ask why you've been moved to a 1Mb/s fixed speed connection and not a "Max" product.

Perhaps it was done becuase you complained about instability previously?
