How do I get my Attenuation SNR and stuff....?

[link to this post]

I want to use one of the oneline tools to check what max speed I may be capable of (so I can pay fo the appropriate product - I don't want to pay for 8Meg if I can only get 2).

I think I need my line attentuation and SNR an stuff like that. I am not sure how to find them out. My modem (Voyager 190) is not listed on the Kitz web page so I can't find instructions on how to do it. Can anyone help?

The Voyager 190 is an AOL specific router and locked to them.
I believe the router IP address is 192.168.1.1 as per most other Voyager routers, but AOL blocked out access on many of these routers.

You can try see if you can get access via http://192.168.1.1 - you may be lucky
if not then there is a version of firmware floating around the internet which will unlock it (corz) but thats at your own risk.

You could also try putting your details in the adsl checker to see what info that returns

TY for your help.

I couldn't get on to the IP address you linked.

The ADSL checker suggests I can get up to 6Meg with ADSL max (I think DSLzone said 6-12Meg?). Am I right in thinking that O2 LLU would be an ADSLmax product? Am I looking at the right type of ADSL service or am I looking at something totally wrong.

If I change it is definately O2 LLU which I will switch too.

O2 is ADSL2+, and will give you up to 8Mbps or 16Mbps, depending on which product you choose.
It doesn't use ADSLmax (which is a BT product).
BTW - O2 uses the BE network (same group of companies), is a lower price than BE, but has a 12 month contract (BE's is 3 months IIRC).

Unless you want a static IP address.

Be Value, their 8Mb 14 product, is 12-month contract for the first year then 1-month after that. Correct about the higher ones though .

Be email is not included. It is 2 per month extra.

Presumably you are on a fixed speed product now?

Also, note that for sign-ups before the end of March O2 have a 100-day money back guarantee.

I don't really see how you can lose as the prices are so good as well.

The checker returns the results from the BTw database which unfortunately will only estimate for max.
As mentioned by the others o2 is adsl2+ therefore can give you higher speeds.

You could always try ringing o2/be and ask if they can estimate your maximum speeds. Ive spoken to Be on behalf of others before and they quite happily gave me an estimate of the max speed for the line.

Although their estimate is based only on the line length recorded in the LLU checker.

Just to show how far out it can be, they (O2) estimate 50kbps for my line (which syncs between 3700-4100kbps on ADSL1).
