Re: Re-sync problems

We got on very well, I'm not a Victor Meldrew, and reckon the blames on a poorly invested company primarily. He seemed under a lot of pressure to get it right this time, and was concerned about me starting up another fault.

I definitely got the impression he was 'timed out' and feel its as well to press for further work, whilst the 'irons hot' so as to speak?

I think I would give him a ring and tell him exactly what you have told us and see what he says. It loses you nothing.

In reply to:

an Openreach 'lineman' not a broadband engineer.

It 'sounds' like the engineer has fixed the D-side, if he is proposing to swap out an E-side, and you do go the route of phoning him direct (clear evidence of the 'big stick' approach some managers use on their engineers), you might politely ask him to ring one of the broadband engineers and ask which range is best to the cab. Mostly the E-sides are all much of a muchness, but in some cases there can be dramatic differences between them. I suspect however, that the engineer will not be interested, as it sounds like he has cleared the fault you reported, noisy.

Thanks Zajaz,

The time before this, he actually contacted the broadband man, who came here with an RF1 filter as he thought the nearby 'Coastguard Command Station', with a powerful transmitter, might be affecting things, so I'll call him and discreetly suggest your comments, and thankyou very much.
