Choosing a new broadband provider

Currently I am using Eclipse Unlimited broadband. A few months ago the speed dropped from around 7.0Mb/s to 0.2Mb/s.

I sent an email to Eclipse asking why this happened. The next day they told me that I am being given the lowest priority and it would be best if I switch from Unlimited to Monthly allowance option. Therefore, I decided to find another provider.

I had a look online and so far O2 8Mb/s and Be 8Mb/s packages have caught my eye. Does anyone use these and are they any good (in terms of speed, reliability, support, etc).

Would you advise any others providers for me to have a look at?

Have you checked you can get O2/Be - check your exchange at samknows for the LLU entry.

If you can then it would be difficult to find a better option for you. If you look in the O2 or Be forums on this site for posts by MKD, at the bottom in his sig he has a tinyurl link to an excellent comparison of the two that he has done.

(In case you don't already know, O2 bought Be a bit ago as their entry into broadband. The O2 service uses BT kit in the exchange but the way they package the services is different - see MKD).

If they don't have an LLU presence O2 also offer the BT IPStream up to 8Mbps that everybody else does. That doesn't seem to be a brilliant one to go for. Entanet resellers such as ADSL24, vivaciti, ukfsn and freeola would be worth looking at in that case.
