Tiscali on brink after sale falters

[link to this post]

Internet service provider Tiscali is fighting for its life after failing to clinch a deal with BSkyB.
The Italian company has been trying to sell its British Pipex operation to the satellite broadcaster.
Tiscali, Britain's fifth largest broadband supplier with 1.8m subscribers, has breached banking covenants on its crippling £447m debt mountain.
The covenants - key elements of its loan agreements - are a crucial measure of its financial health.

What've they done to deserve such a fate? Haven't they suffered enough?

They'll be thankful after they've moved to a new ISP.

I overheard somebody recommending Tiscali BB once. I think they also used to figure in MoneySavingExpert newsletters as being very cheap.

Regarding the 1.8M customers... I've seen doggy doos attracting loads of flies but I've never been tempted to eat it myself.

If tthey are in financial trouble it wouldn't pay to buy them now - far better to wait for the final clearance sale even though that could mean you'd miss out.

From the wanted ads:"Three million IP packets for sale. Hardly used. Most still in their originally packaging"

laugh

I know someone who have been with Tiscali for years now and they seem to have no problems at all, they moved now and went onto their LLU system and they are as happy as anything with the service.

It just shows they can do it when they want to.

Adrian using Linux on his laptop and loves it.

BTBroadbandanywhere type package.

I'd interpret it as browsing and email still work fine at 300kbps
