SNR question on ADSL2+

I've just recently connected with a new ISP on BTs WBC 24mb and had a quick query.

When I first connected, my router synced at something like 20988kbps and over a couple of days, it has slowly increased, first to about ~21400 and now its around 21800 (plucking these numbers out of my head so they arent exact). Last night the SNR was down to 2.6dB but the connection stayed on all night and seemed stable enough.

Also, while my router is synced at about 21mb, my speeds are still stuck at 8mb. I assume all the changes and slower speeds are because of the 5 day training thing while it susses out what my line can do, similar to when I upgraded to 8mb originally?

Does the BT speed tester work for you and if so what profile does it report? If your ISP is an Entanet reseller I suggest you check the profile they are showing on your control panel and see if it is the same, or if it is 7150 or below if the BT test didn't work. The update of that sometimes fails.

Possibly you are with AAISP? Similar. In either case try what I suggest then contact support.

As you have had a huge increase in connection speed the profile should have risen by now even if it wasn't reset on the changeover.

I did some test through the control panel online though and it came back with this - dunno if this can tell you anything?

That's wierd. Maximum Stable Rate of 2Mbps and Fault Tolerance Rate the same. I don't know what happens on WBC so they may be irrelevant, but those look like fixed 2Mbps line characteristics to me.

Do you actually get over 2Mbps download speed?

Well the SNRM is fine, the variation looks OK. Just the speed, and the profile question which the BT speed test might partly answer.

I think you should contact AAISP though.
