Best set up for new connection ?

[link to this post]

I'm (hopefully) moving soon and the new house has no phone or broadband connection (it was Virgin cable for both but the accounts were closed when the elderly gent who was the occupant died)

We're going to be getting Sky TV for the other half, I was thinking of getting a complete package (i.e. TV/phone/broadband from SKY.
From what I've read it seems Sky can install a line themselves ?
Is it best to go with BT to keep the phone line separate or let them install their own line ?
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick again ?

I think you're right and that Sky can now also arrange for line installation. Whether their web-based or telephone-based systems can cope with the order is a separate issue.

It may be too new a feature to know about the pros and cons of getting Sky to install the line as well.

the key will be whether you use the land line for calls and if so if the Sky offering meets your needs (as access to 3rd party carriers may be limited).

So it sounds as if I'm probably best going for the BT line, then putting the Sky service on top for the time being.

If you go for Sky LLU they will possibly put you on full LLU - taking the line off BT, which could get messy especially if it's a new BT line as you would possibly be cancelling a 12-month contract.

Sky Broadband won't do this, but SkyTalk might. There are various types of SkyTalk available, and I would guess that Sky have allowed for this. One for SkyTalk customer services??

Thanks for the replys, it looks like the querstions redundant now as, for the second time, the buyer has dropped out, so we're stuck here a bit longer.....
Which leads me to another question but I'll start another thread for that one.
