*Subject to BT Line

Hi,

I'm looking into getting Broadband at place I've moved into and am looking at having the O2 standard package because it works out so cheaply at £1.76/month (already have an O2 contract phone).

My question is where they state "Subject to BT line", do you have to have the line rental directly off BT for £11.25/month, or is it possible to have line rental with, for example, SKY at £10.00/month or any other company because they still use the BT hardware etc?

Never heard of Primus, but Sky and the Post Office yes. Several O2/Be users have recently moved thrir phone to Sky, with no problems.

Plusnet don't allow third-party broadband on their phone lines so you can't go there.

Might need to move to Oz for Primus telephone http://www.primus.com.au/PrimusWeb/HomeSolutions/Hom...

Not sure who Primus are, they just came up on a quick USwitch search.

Any idea who the cheapest line providers are? Not interested in any call packages or anything, just needed for the broadband.

iDNet do a line only package at £10.75/per month. Their broadband support is excellent so I see no reason why their phone service should be any different. Also they will install a new line for £108

Decided to go with the Post Office in the end because it was only a monthly contract, just been told though that an engineer needs to be called out to the exchange so they want to charge £107.66!

Anyone know of anywhere that wouldn't charge for this?

If it's an engineer call-out, then it's the standard rate unfortunately. Only time your likely to get away with not paying it is if the line is just tagged as disconnected, because then they can do it remotely.
