Bt number not showing on the checker

[link to this post]

Hey I got my phone line activated today and
was very eager to order broadband but wheni do the bt Checker my number isn't showing. I am assuming that I'm jumping the gun somewhat but does any people in the know have any idea when the system gets updated and when my number will show? Thanks!

Normally it should show quite soon, possibly even tomorrow. It's probably just waiting for the engineer reports of work completed today.

However it is very likely the broadband information given for it will be wrong. It seems that it usually shows the information for the address if was used at before. In most cases that takes a couple of days to update.

As long as it is decent estimates then you will be able to order BB, but don't be surprised if it isn't far better or far worse soon after. What I mean is don't get too happy if it is very good in case it isn't.

If it is a poor estimate some ISPs won't take the order. Don't panic. The worse it is the more likely it will improve.

Very occasionally it can stay wrong for ages. frown.

Just to echo some of what Robertos has said.

When you are able to check your line dont worry if it reports you can only get 2Mb (unless of course your line is long in that case it may be accurate).

The checker is woefully inaccurate, BTs checker for me states UPTO 2Mb the reality is i can get the full 8Mb on ADSL and currently have an ADSL2+ LLU service running at 18Mb.

If you are within 5-10 mins walk of the telephone exchange like i am you obviously (WELL IN MOST cases) get more than 2Mb
