o2 route

i have o2 route and would like to use it on virgin net work. is their a walk though guide in what to do. i am not the best when it come to computers. it is a thomson box

since i have change to virgin my pings have gone through the roof. i can not go online game at all. they give me a netgear route v5 is that the problem. when i had o2 for 2 years my ping was great. i can not find out what the problem is. i have been online gameing for 6 years never had this problem and the game is really old blackhawk down. realsnipers. can any1 help it is driven me crazy.

O2 routers are hardware locked to O2 so therefore you cannot use it. They are supposed to be returned to O2 on cessation of service.
If this is Virgin Cable as opposed to Virgin ADSL, you'll need a cable router/modem anyway.
If you are connected via Virgin's ADSL service, you can expect poor performance.

i only can get adsl where i live

In that case, Virgin was a very poor choice for gaming needs.

what is the best internet for gaming only can get 2 meg where we live

For gaming, speed isn't that important but latency (Ping) is. There is little that can be done to improve that without changing providers
I'm sure there will be a few users along shortly with recommendations for other ISP's (Plusnet springs to mind) but if you're tied into a contract, you're probably stuck with Virgin until that contract ends. Unless of course, you buy yourself out.
