Switching from BT/Orange to Talk Talk

I'm swithcing my land line from BT and my ISP from Orange so that both are with Talk Talk.

This is supposed to happen on 1st Sept.

I have had a communication (letter) from BT saying "sorry to see you go etc" but nothing at all from Orange.

So this morning I phoned Talk Talk to ask if everything was on schedule and OK. They said it was but suggested I phone Orange.

I phoned Orange who claimed that they new nothing about it and that Talk Talk hadn't sent them a MAC code. If they didn't get a MAC code they would charge me £25 dissconnection fee.

I then phoned Talk Talk to ask about the MAC code and they said they didn't need one as they were taking over the whole line.

I had a feeling that something like this would happen.

Does anyone know the truth of it?

TT will be paying BT the transfer fee from the BT Wholesal MSAN/DSLAM to their own.

Therefore BT will not be charging Orange a disconnection fee so Orange cannot charge you.

What you do need to be sure of is that you have given whatever notice your T & Cs require, else they will be able to charge you for ongoing connection until the expiry of notice.

I agree with RobertoS. I also confirm that TT do not require a MAC code when you move to LLU.

I moved to TT and it all went as detailed by them. Best thing I have done for ages!

I got a rebate from BT for what was left of line rental which is paid for in advance, and a small rebate from my previous BB provider.
