Keeping phone number when moving house

I saw this question posted on another non-technical forum I frequent

Anyone in the know or had a similar experience.

- I am moving house
- Its just up the road so its the same exchange so I want to keep my number.
- I currently pay line rental to PlusNet who I get phone calls and broadband from
- In my new house I want to get everything from Sky.

Does anyone know whats the process / or who / what I ask to get my exisitng number moved to my new house ? Sky said call PlusNet, PlusNet said call cancelations and I gave up after 10 mins on hold.

Anyone help ?

Is this even possible? I know it is if it is BT at both premises but in this case???

in theory "number portability" should allow it to happen. Problem is the complete lack of continuity in changing suppliers at the same time as moving.

I read elsewhere "Those who wants to know if sky do install new line for new customers. yes they do. Sky installed new line for me for free of charge, which BT was going to charge me £124. Line is now active, my telephone number was ported to Sky successfully. So all seems good so far."

As the acquiring CP it will be down to Sky to do everything, if they won't / can't then the mission may be impossible.

Thanks for that. My gut feeling was that Sky should be the ones to get things organised but as you said the lack of continuity in providers is the problem.

That's assuming you want full LLU though.

Does he know what that means though? Three months ago the same statement would have meant shared LLU.
