How would 10 Meg broadband change the world, when the national average is 4 ?

Business has had access to 100meg and faster for years. Zero impact, really.

For Home users there will be some impact as a lot of homes are on Wifi which maxes out much lower than that, and cheap switches, routers etc. will also be a bottleneck. Any faster than 100meg and you'd need to deploy a gigabit network for it to make sense (thankfully much cheaper than it used to be).

The impact is zero, 100Mbps internet access (and much greater speeds) has been available for years.

One of my clients is currently installing 2 x 1Gbps accesses to replace their 2 x 200Mbps accesses.

the question needs more work - are you asking what the impact would be on business if consumers had widespread access to 100M broadband, or what the benefit would be to a business of having 100M access itself ?

I hardly know of any business's that utilise 100mbit connections, the only ones I know of tend to be large corporates who can afford expensive leased lines.

Thinking about smaller businesses - will 100meg mean they can access telepresence and better video conferencing; cloud computing becomes a practical solution and not just for basic things like google apps; real time collaboration on design projects - as examples. Surely the benefit of 100meg wont just be ... everything faster, it will be more fundamental than that!? Otherwise, what's the point?
