will o2 broadband be doing landline call packages?

im thinking of going on o2 pro when i move to my new house but i wnna no if o2 are going to doing callin plans? and o2 broadband is unlimted like they say? i download bout 500-600gig month

Whilst o2 Broadband is basically unlimited they may well take exception to a regular 500Gb a month. It is sold as a residential package and not a business package. Someone that is downloading 500Gb a month is using at Business levels and as such they may say you wil have to move to a business package. I doubt you will get away with using it like that month after month and personally I would not blame them that usage even I would regard as excessive

I doubt if O2 intend to do landline packages. If they do I hope it will be WLR and calls only, as full LLU is a big turn-off for many of us. Post Office landline is a good deal, if the free BT installation offer has finished. Obviously avoid Post Office broadband for your needs.

Contrary to the previous poster's opinion I think your downloads would be fine. In any case what alternatives have you at similar prices?

Have you checked either with the existing owner of the new house what speeds are likely to be like? Attenuation is the main factor.

The reason I ask is that Pro obtains the higher upload speed by taking the lowest download frequencies and using those for upload. So two factors need to be considered.

First is that unless you are next door to the exchange you will probably lose 2-3Mbps of connection speed on Pro, (assuming you stay on Annex M and aren't choosing Pro just for the other extra little bits), and second if the connection speed is likely to be below 16Mbps then you are unlikely to get above the Annex A 1.3Mbps upload anyway, though I suppose you would get more than an Annex A connection.

Out of interest, what does one download at 500Gb a month thats legal ?

(I run a business with 10 users online all day and we don't even get close to that)

dj lots of music and music videos oh and i do download movies for myself to watch now and again im on tiscali upto 8 meg atm get the full 8 meg but want faster. never had a prob with me downloading that much

I know that I might be thought of as a miserable old sod, but all this "idiot text" style posting, complete with such poor regard for the English language, really grates. If someone has the "intellect" to be able to post, quote various figures and offer a myriad of other thoughts about the net, then why do they have to make their post as though it has come from a semi-literate child of 8? Anonimity seems to be a factor in the worst cases - I wonder why.
Come on, if you're old enough and savvy enough to use a computer, then don't irritate many of us with child-like phrasing - it's pretty silly.......

Although I largely agree with you, it's a pity you're anonymous as well . If you were registered you could correct your spelling .

eh about 300 movies a month downloaded is occassional? I cannot imagine any ISP tolerating that level of downloading on a regualar basis. THats very much more then most small business users would use in a month

Mea Culpa. You're right, of course, Bob - but I claim mitigation/distraction. Prior to my posting, I had been using one of my alter-egos ([email protected] - spelling intentionally incorrect) and I accidentally logged in as "anonymous" instead of my usual login.
