Me too! Programmed the old Elliot Automation 803's in 1965/1966 - see wikipedia for info on the 39-bit word and instruction set! 5-hole punch tape too ... so a restricted character set wink

All a bit too much in the dim and distant past now ... says he dribbling in the corner of the room frown
Exactly. Including the dribbling. That's why I said "if my arithmetic is correct".

You beat me though, I only started in 1966 on Leo III. I used to love amazing people by reading out what was on paper tape. I think it was probably 8-hole.

Wow, another Leo III man! I started on those in 1964.

So our combined ages are pushing 180 ! Now, can we not sort out why I get this wierd cycling ...

Been away for 4 days, but ... on Thursday night the NM's only got a bit noiser, and did not show the cycling, and did not dip down anywhere near as low! Maybe only down as far as 9db!

I was in yet another 10-day training period ... would that have *any* effect on what I might see at the router end. Or is this purely a physical thing?

I also remember the back of the core memory on our DecSystem KL-10. Just about all the wiring was white! Opening the back of the cab always impressed students!

I think my fav was a Thinking Machines box running its demos ... sadly didn't get to play with one of those ... anyone here?? Parallel compute on a windows cluster is not quite the same frown... although the cluster node heat map can be fun to watch.
