Strange issue

[link to this post]

Ok i'm leaving my current ISP, I used my MAC Monday and migration is due to complete 14th.

Since last night my BB has been terrible, sync is constant and errors are low but all of a sudden the traffic just stops PPP remains up but no traffic nothing. I drop the PPP session away everything goes again then at a random time later it happens again and again and again.

ISP have investigated and claim that BT has erroneously generated a cease, I don't see how that can relate to this issue as I still have sync and am currently using it but the connection is terrible still synced 8Mbps speedtest says about 300Kbps.

IP profile is still 7150 so it's not that.

Any thoughts?

If a cease had been carried out, then you'd have no access to internet, possibly still an ADSL sync.

Migration was to whom? For some moves, a cease may be part of the process. If IPStream to IPStream, then this is not the case, but with the mix of LLU and WBC life is far from simple.

I don't want to name the ISP yet but it was to Namesco and it is ipstream to ipstream (exchange EACLE no 21cn date yet let alone LLU)

It's really weird, speedtest is currently 270Kbps on 8Mbps sync, sync has been solid, almost no errors PPP traffic just stops and a quick disconnect/connect fixes it for a time.

Their exact words were the connection has been ceased in error but I am still connected...

Question is who generated this cease.

Some providers use the word to mean cease of contract, rather than cease of ADSL, two very different things

IPStream to IPStream should mean no ceasing other than of your old contractual obligation to pay the old ISP money each month.

Well apparently it wasn't a cease that was just an error message not what had been actioned.

The latest is that the migration happened on BTs back end systems on the 7th Dec (the day I ordered? I think not) and that was what was causing the traffic to stop.

I doubt it personally but either way am now with Namesco and connection is running to line speed
