heywood exchange BE Broadband

tonight i seem to be getting a very slow download/upload.

can anyone help?

Sorry I can't answer the q, but if you register on these forums you could see and ask in the BE ISP one. Having said that, there have been no posts in it since 11:15 this morning.

You might find something in this link though. Outages/faults at one place can often cause re-routing of the traffic from others, and so cause congestion.

some parts of heywood had a power cut tonight so dont no if that anything to do with it?

The power cut wouldn't be a root cause if it was an exchange error because they have backup after backup down there. Most likely cause - Power being switched on all at once affecting line conditions.
