Check connectivity to a website please

[link to this post]

I haven't posted on these forums for ages. Not sure the best place for this question.Would someone mind checking if you can access this web address please?

http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/xbmclock.xbm?zone...

It is supposed to display the current time.

I have checked it on isthatsitedown.com and it says the site is up. IP address is 199.211.133.239

If I put the site url or the IP address into any of my browsers, it times out.

I am trying to establish whether this is being caused by the recent switch of my adsl24 wholesale provider from entanet to murphx. The address used to work fine but I have not used it recently enough to be able to say it went wrong after switchover.

tracert times out too, somewhere in the US.

It asks me if I wish to download an image, not being so minded I clicked Cancel. Nevertheless it did seem to connect to the site.

Works for me (but the clock doesn't update, not sure if it's meant to).

Hi, if you are after a clock go for this atomic clock sync. I find it great and have been using it since Windows 95.

Thanks. That would be really useful if I could connect to anything at all at tycho.usno.navy.mil

Firefox gives me the message
The server at tycho.usno.navy.mil is taking too long to respond and all my browsers give similar.

This worked before adsl24 changed entanet to murphx but I am struggling to understand how that would make a difference.

Thank you. That works fine. Now all I have to do is work out why the US Navy site won't load.

Not my field, but murphx may have different peering arrangements to Entanet. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peering

Perhaps their peers aren't as good for the USA.
