0161 - Manchester - broadband problems

I see on my ISP's status page

Broadband (Service Outage)
Description: We have been made aware of an outage in the Manchester area, this will be affecting broadband connectivity for customers that use the dialing code of 0161.

BT engineers are investigating.

Anyone know of the extent of the problem?

The Plusnet link suggests it was on 22.04 on a small number of exchanges whereas my ISP reports it as being today with no indication of which exchanges, perhaps all of them frown

Dialling codes affected: 0161 (21CN)

Estimated time to resolve: 2hrs

We are aware of a temporary problem in the Manchester area that may be causing some users difficulties accessing the Internet. Our engineers are working to resolve this problem and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

All fine here and im 0161 although i am about 4 miles from the city centre.

Fine here in 0161 land a few miles from the City Centre.

Perhaps something similar to the tunnel fire in 2004 that took out all sorts of cables and phone in the extended Greater Manchester area.

You are OK as your connection is fibre, its the bundles of copper wire cables near the exchanges that are of value to thieves. tongue
