Downtime for LLU to LLU

[link to this post]

I'm moving from TalkTalk to Sky, both full LLU. My date was meant to be the 2nd Sept, but my line went dead today at 2.45pm and it is still dead now at 5.15pm (by dead i mean no dial tone) I know the broadband wil take another 6-10days from when it goes live

How long does the change over usually take?

Depends on the change has been ordered, if a migration then line should move pretty much same day.

Trick with full LLU is to see whose network the phone is using. If that is already on Sky then no reason for broadband not to be working

Yeah its just a migration, same physical line. Just wondering as my date to move over was the 2nd but as the line died earlier i guessed it was maybe BT just doing the work early.

Now that it's been down nearly 3hrs i'm starting to wonder if its just talktalk issues

As MrSaffron says. Going full LLU to full LLU once the phone is linked up the broadband should work as well. 6-10 days sounds silly.

But I would have expected the change not to take over an hour. Maybe the exchange is a strange and complicated layout.

I wonder if BT Openreach have done the swap but the notification hasn't got through to Sky yet, so your account and everything else hasn't been activated by them?

Going to partial LLU with O2 the connection is live long before the text is sent. I assume in their case the account is activated around midnight so as to be ready.

Ah, further to my previous post, maybe Sky will normally do the same and activate around midnight tonight? Unless they react to the Openreach notification before that.

Can easily see how 6-10 could be possible.

They do a PSTN line take over but the dual provide process differs slightly to a normal SIM order, so it is possible they have to wait to get that on before the broadband.

When i ordered it i was told the broadband order would have to wait until the line goes live.

Might give them a ring in a bit and see whats going on. Need the landline to be working.

When i ring the house number, it rings then goes to TalkTalk's voicemail still

Sounds like the central routing database is yet to update - that can take a few hours.

Also, if you are calling from another Talk Talk line, that may go locally across their network.

How silly smile.

But thinking back, TT broadband takes a while as well doesn't it?

No idea.. never been a TT customer.

Getting our MPF lines connected happens pretty much straight away. When I did mine a few months ago, was out for about 30 minutes and all back and working after the re-connnect on to the new kit.

Switched the profile to 6db/Fast/no DLM and been great since.

Matt

Edit: not WLR.. but MPF
