How do I find out when broadband is coming to my area?

[link to this post]

Hi!

I'm trying to find out when my local exchange (Plaistow) is due to be upgraded (or whatever the terminology is!) for broadband .... any help gratefully received!

I know we can get Kijoma but I want to find out about the rest! Sure I read somewhere that it'd be the beginning of 2011 but can't find that now!

Thanks!

Who has said that?

The USC now has a date of 2015, and that is probably just a 2Meg level, which the wireless provider, or a satellite service can provide.

180 lines on exchange, so at best 100 ADSL customers. Perhaps £1000 a month of revenue to who ever enables the exchange, £12,000 a year.If hte cost of the upgrade was is £50,000 thats a long time to pay it off, if it costs more then even less attractive.

In reply to a post by xfhwx:
(Plaistow)

As in Near Loxwood, West Sussex?

As that exchange serves 180 homes and 5 businesses, its far too small for any money to be spent on it. I'm surprised an exchange that small still exists.

Doesn't look like anything but Kijorma:

Samknows has no proposed dates for Plaistow, maybe someone else on the forum can find out more.

No proposeed ADSL dates, thats because BT as far as I am aware have no dates to enable the exchange.

I would approach the Equine Centre and see what's involved in getting what they have "a mesh box" and see if it's economically viable for you!
