I am sueing BT for giving out my email address in cc's copy email (I am going to fight BT in court and win a million pound for breaking their data protection act)
you have to prove that a million pounds worth of damage was done, think you would win some money but nothing near 1 million and damages have to be reasonable
... a lot of people don't test things in offline systems first
Indeed - but always amateurs!
Experienced professionals always check such things. [cough]
- though I think you mean in test-bed online systems with small user populations. Off-line is usually totally secure from the internet point of view. Until people leave laptops and CDs/DVDs lying around.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk My domains, website and mail hosting -Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.
If it is the same as the mail I have seen, it was not sent by BT directly but by one of their sub-contract marketing agencies and from a non-BT account. Yes, BT are ultimately responsible, but the agency will be the biggest loser as any fines or costs will be passed on and they may well loose the BT contract.
