Not sure what exchange ill be on

[link to this post]

Ok soon moving home and need some help. Will i still be able to have my o2 LLU service at this postcode as i cant find this information. If so i believe my exchange is at capacity for its llu service. Will this be a problem whilst moving?

If not what other providers would give me an adsl+2 service .

one more thing, if you put that postcode into samknows it comes up with a different exchange other than torquay. But if you go on the BT wholesale website it tells you im on the torquay exchange and adsl+2 would be available at 11meg download.. so im abit lost.

So some sites are saying, including BT wholesale tell me im on the torquay exchange, but other tell me im on the chelston exchange

thanks

It's worth seeing what the samknows Mapping Engine says about which exchange, as that takes the full address.

Chelston would only leave you with a possible Virgin cable connection apart from BT Wholesale based.

Torquay does have O2/Be, but if as you say (on the day you try to order!) it is full then you can either try every day for a while or look at vivaciti and xilo both of which provide 75GB allowance (shared) LLU packages there, (shared is what your O2 LLU is), and also full LLU via the Opal network.

If shared v full LLU confuses you have a read of my What is LLU? page.

Whatever you do, avoid the O2 Access package! You are better paying cancellation fees where you are now if you have to.

Which O2 package are you on at the moment?

well ive spoken to o2 and they said I would not be able to have llu at the new address and only access would be available, which im not happy about as they want to charge me more.

But its still odd that some website are telling me 2 different exchanges..

An address less than 50m away o2 could provide llu according for there website.. what are my opitions?

Wait until you have a phone number. It is possible that BT may connect you to either depending on line availability. So make sure when ordering you emphasise you wish to be on the Torquay exchange. Which is no guarantee that on the day you will be frown.

The try the o2 number tester again. Don't take too much notice of the estimated speeds for the first couple of days as they will be for wherever it went to before you.

You will need to box clever to keep your O2 account open just in case, but I think you may be able to, depending on the competence of the particular people at O2 you speak to. Remember you can only transfer on your current package (or to the dreaded Access) if you don't want a new style package.

What does the Be checker say? Probably the same, but!

Other options as per my previous post also depend on which exchange the actual number shows up as. The trouble with that is if it is Chelston you may want to go cable instead and it will be too late frown.

What does Virgin Cable say about the post code?

Have you asked any near neighbours? Try their phone numbers in samknows.

virgin tells me im not in a cable area.

samknows exchange mapper says the road next to my building is connected to the torquay exchange, but my building doesent come up as the area is a new development.

BE cant find it or provide it either frown. Whats the difference with using a connected phone line to just checking the address ?

evening calling o2,they said its not available. But seems im on the boarder of the torquay/chelston exchanges....

You could phone BT and ask which exchange it would be on. But keep it simple, don't mention broadband unless they answer Chelston.

Other than that I don't think I can help any further.

well ive just been through the ording stage on the bt broadband website, and i could get as far as ordering everything and then at the end it giving me an estimated line speed of 15meg,
which suggest to myself i should be on the torquay exchange as chelstion is not using adsl+2 tech yet?

?
Now I'm confused.

Have you already got a phone line there, or were you going through a process to order that as well?
