Router stats graph help

[link to this post]

Hi,

I have router stats running checking my SNR and every so often the graph plummets to zero but the line goes pink?

What does that mean? A noise burst? The router does not lose sync.

I think it means your browser logged into the router.

Don't think it's the phone. Will check with the Mrs though to see if she has been on it.

Some routers only allow one session at a time.

No dip in graph when using the phone. Just tried it.

I think it could be the wireless dropping out on the laptop. I'll try wiring it in tomorrow

The pink bits are where RSL is not receiving data from the router in response to the request - or at least nor sufficient to plot.

It used to happen to me a lot on Linksys and Speedtouch in DMT, before I started using RouterStats Lite. Now on Netgear with Routerstats Lite running wirelessly it happens much less, and is basically when the microwave is running.

So yes, I reckon it is the wireless side, but I doubt if it is dropping out. Just not coping - possibly huge interference.

Mine are usually short spikes, i.e. no horizontal pink, but I'm running on a 5-second sampling period and may get several within 30 seconds. So if your sampling period is longer it could be simply Routerstats hasn't had a valid reply for a while.

Also heavy wireless traffic by you could be the cause? The router will always give priority to real work rather than answering stats requests, and that loss of yours is about 5 minutes.
