I am considering changing as above. I have noted that Virgin Engineers in our Avenue run the Cable under the front garden and into the front of the Premises. My problem is that all of my front is Tarmac. I have attempted with Virgin to have a Engineer pre visit to discuss how without digging my drive they would carry out the installation, they tell me this is not possible and if we cannot agree on how they will do it the contract will be canceled.
I am not sure that this would not leave me with any supplier being all done on the day. Anyone with experience of problem installation or regarding how I would stand canceling.

Why not keep the BT line until after Virgin install is (maybe) completed?

Having been with BT for around 30 years not sure how it all works, thought the day Virgin attended BT would be turned off.

Have you asked to keep the same phone number?
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

Provided you're not migrating the phone number (and it's not an ADSL product) it's perfectly possible to have an overlap between the provision of one service starting and the end of the other one stopping, since they use different physical hardware and have no contractual connections between them.
(Note: your ISP will probably charge you about £25 when you cease the ADSL, but the overlapping or not doesn't change that)

is this a digging question ? (rather than a broadband one)
Phil
MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.
MaxDSL diagnostics
Are your kids pirates ? Limewire, Bearshare, Kazaa, BitTorrent, eMule are all tools of the trade.

Make sure that the installation team do not * accidentally * cut or in any way change the wiring to the existing master socket, or the master socket itself. If they do, you will lose your existing service and also are liable for this being repaired as it is not yours.

Have you asked why they run it underground and not above?
No reason not to run it above ground - they do around here. Although they have the cheek to run it though other parties gardens too.
