ISP Test

Requirements that i would imagine will rule out most people, (under 30gb per month usage) lol not a chance unless it don't get used

I suspect that a great many users don't get anywhere near 30Gb a month, possibly the majority. Clearly many on TBB do, but that's a very small fraction of the broadband user base, Clearly there are also households where a lot of activity takes place but I suggest that is by no means the majoroty.

I know of plenty who only turn their PC on every 3 or 4 days or so, and plenty who have it on all the time - mine is on most of the time and I do a lot on the internet, but download very few large files, rarely use iPlayer or on-line TV. Looking back at my usage since January 2010 the heaviest month was 15Gb, most around 5Gb.

Those on light use accounts wont sign up, and those who are heavy are excluded.

So the results are really for those who are not likely to be subject to traffic mangement

Router is a loaner - and is not for your use. They send you the router that you plug in to your existing router (the only reason it is a router is that it is a cost effective way of doing it). You don't have any access to the samknows router device and don't use it for anything (other than it collecting the statistics).

You do get access to the website for your own stats that allows you to see latency, download/upload test results, etc. That is quite handy to me.

I did it more as a way of helping the community than anything I personally get. In the end it uses a bit of electricity so is a relatively small price to me to hopefully help out with an understanding of the state of UK broadband.

I almost certainly don't use over 30Gb but am using more now than I did as I have sky anytime+ and download a few movies a week off that.

puts out of the picture about 50% of the UK right there. And the silver surfers using sub 10GB won't want to know either. So this study is too restrictive for most.

Unlikely. I think the average usage is under 10GB/month, the users of this site give rather a distorted viewpoint.
