Images on web pages loading very slowly

When using my home ISP images on web pages load extremely slowly - often hanging for minutes before getting there. Yet I can download other files and update by Ubuntu OS at the maximum speed my line allows. When I take this laptop elsewhere nad use other ISPs the images load normally. So I think there may be a router setting or something which my ISP (Pipex) does not like. Could this be MTU or something? Might it be the router (2Wire 2700HG)? Any ideas?

do thy put your traffic through a proxy ? http://whatismyipaddress.com/proxy-check

MTU can have an effect but this would show up on any large file not just graphics

Most likely slow DNS - consider using Open DNS or other DNS servers which may be faster

Tried using various DNS servers - OpenDNS, Google. No difference. Really don't understand it I can download at 1 Mbit/s but forum pages showing multiple images from different sources take ages to load - sometimes just hanging and not getting there at all.

Have you tryed using different browsers to see if things change for you?
