New To The whole broadband scene - Questions

Hello there, i'm currently on 3g mobile broadband due to living in a rural area and not been able to get broadband - atm my speed test is awful at 0.5mbps thats right -pukes-. so i'm moving house next week due to better location. and i'm thinking about going with sky broadband

i was told i would get 6mbps which is better then what im on obviously - would i be able to pay xbox live with this 6mbps - I'm also worried as i have a big family who 3 of us are mainly always online would this effect speeds.

when i order how long will it take for them to activate? ive been told 14 days by there online help chat.

when they send the router? do i plug it in

are sky bb good?

will they tell me what date it will be active? and a time?

I'm new to broaband and very scared - i want broadband with no hassle

Hopefully you can get Sky Broadband Unlimited. If you've signed up for Sky Connect, be afraid.

What exchange will you be connected to?

On that exchange there are only Sky and TalkTalk LLU suppliers, so there is a possibility that all the Sky LLU Unlimited connections have been taken up. I don't know how accurate the checker you have used is.

If you can get on the Sky LLU service that should be OK, but if it is fully taken up then they would put you on Sky Connect, the non-LLU service. That is dreadful. So you need to make sure with their sales that they have space.

Is the cost a prime consideration? If not, there are probably other suitable LLU ISPs selling TalkTalk Business Wholesale if you can't get that Sky one, and the exchange is due for 21CN (WBC) at the end of this month which would open up the door to decent non-LLU.

But may be full, as Roberto said.

If when you order, they offer you Sky Connect instead, for example because Sky LLU is full, I recommend you do not sign up for Sky Connect.

However, you should be Ok and find Sky LLU is available, and I recommend you sign up for Sky Broadband Unlimited.
