FTTC rollout within an area checker ?

Is there anywhere to check when an area will be completed...

A local area is marked for some time as FTTC available.
Samknows says it is FTTC enabled (for the phone No provided)..
and go get some...

The following services are available in your location:
* BT Wholesale ADSL
* BT Wholesale ADSL Max
* BT FTTC
* AOL LLU
* Bulldog LLU
* TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
* Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU

however on deeper inspection.. the page says
"FTTC status: Available in some areas"
and all the checkers for the post code/local phone No's show standard broadband only.

All of which seems very unfortunate, as the address
- has no VirginMedia/NTL cable (but constantly gets flyers)
- seems to not be included in the FTTC rolloout to date

Yet the area that does get FTTC already has good Virgin Media coverage...

I had kind hoped that FTTC would be targetted on areas that would most benefit not areas that already had competition in them...

Are there any lists/commitments to fully cover an exchange ?

Yes, the areas that most benefit BT and their shareholders, regardless of what may or may not already be there

Oddly... areas with no competition might have been such an area..
rather than just sit there stealing the customers...

Only way is really via the BT Wholesale checker which can do the line to cabinet look up for you.

Most benefit as in perceived best ROI for Openreach, also as its early in the rollout it may simply be an area is going to get more roll-out in the future, just doing the easy low hanging fruit first

is this available to the ordinary punter...
or only via the various ISP/website checkers... which hopefully would indicate a prospective date if scheduled..at least in the next few months.

As you say, the other parts of exchanges may come later...
just unfortuneate the sections chosen already.

BT are simply guessing at this stage, clearly they got at least some of it wrong as evidenced in their poor takeup in the welsh area they picked that not only was short lines (bad choice) but also had existing VM services. I am scratching my head as to why BT exec's are scratching their heads over it, what did they expect?

I assume that BT are still in flux about what and who to enable. The rollout plan has my exchange enabled in September 2011 and "sometime in 2012".

Time to start another campaign .... Its been oh 10 years since the last one!
