Speedtest: upload speed reduced with new router.

tbb Speedtest results with Draytek Vigor 2820n
Download 11-12Mbits/s
Upload 0.8Mbits/s

As you can see my download speeds have remained the same with the Draytek but upload speed has reduced by 20%

Any ideas?

But what are your Sync Speeds? They are determining factors. They probably changed when you switched routers.

Yes, exact same configuration for both routers.

Eh? 2 routers involved but only 1 set of stats. Where's the other 1 & which is which?

Because they use different chipsets, and its been shown before that different manufacturers of ADSL chipsets cause different effects on the same line. Also goes with the chipset in the exchange DSLAM as well.

My BE line works well using my TG585v7 and I'm getting today 18mbps download sync, with 1.3mbps upload - and I get uptime measured in 10s of days.

If I use my Draytek 2820Vn, then I sometimes see 20mbps download, but 800kbps upload, and its very unstable, and disconnects several times a day.

The TG585v7 uses a Broadcom chip. the Draytek I believe is using Infineon.

Thanks jchamier, that makes sense. Don't have any stability problems with the Draytek and it has a lot of other features (VPN being the one I'm making use of) so I'll stick with it.

Don't have stats for the Thomson, never wrote them down.
