What's your ADSL connection like? Perhaps it's nothing to do with your wireless, simply that your ADSL link is being lost.

Could you post your router stats ans perhaps monitor the link with RouterStats, see http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm

You need to find out if the problem is wireless or the underlying ADSL connection.

You don't need to. You can get the configuration page for most routers by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into your browser address bar. You will need to know the username and admin password though.

I have access to my router config page no probs thanks.

and as I fix windoze/bloatware pc's all day I choose not to have one at home.

I just need the correct apps to track my prob.

wondering if I need a new router? but to be honest the O2 one was exactly the same so.....

In that case please post the stats, as requested.

In particular make sure you include the error figures, not just the basic speed/attn/noise.

What does the router log have in it for problem periods? That's what it is for - diagnostics.
