Home Hub Version 1.5 (maybe version1) on long lines?

Hi there.

Not for me btw smile

Is the BT Homehub version 1.5 (possibly a version 1) any good (or really bad) on long, noisey lines?

A friend is having terrible trouble getting a decent connection. They are 7km from the nearest BTw only exchange. BT say nothing is wrong with the line, if that's right, getting a decent connection will be down to which router they they are using.

Most folks here seem to advocate a Speedtouch 585 or a Netgear for poor lines.

Any ideas?

I think the HH2 was better for long lines, I never rated the HH1 very well.

2Wire HGV2700 is the one to go for (not sure if the HGV bit is right - brain is a bit scrambled)

Netgear DG834GT we found to be pretty nice on our line back in the early ADSL days

Had a Zoom X4 at one point too and it had a nice interface but wasn't so sharp holding the connection from memory.

Funnily enough I have a 2Wire 2700HGV here that is going spare. I'll try that.

HH1, OK-ish,

HH1.5, pants on a long line.

HH2, best of the bunch.

HH3, not seen it used in anger on a long line.

Sounds like you have the best option, use the 2-Wire.

if your going to give him the 2 wire then flash it to the qwest firmware as it will take any login details and hold on a full reboot

He's on BT anyway so shouldn't be a problem. I've adjusted it so it won't receive software updates from BT.

You cant adjust it from taking BT updates
It has been tried and all attempts have failed
