I had a spate of phone calls from Talk Talk about three years ago. They don't give up easily. One agent yelled down the phone, "I'm trying to save you moneeeeeeee!!!" Keep you cool and say you want to terminate the conversation.

I suppose you could ask his/her name and then report back to Talk Talk (name/date/time) in writing by recorded mail.

What is wrong with just politely saying "Not interested" and closing the door in their face?

You get nowhere by deliberately evading the language filter.

What is wrong with just politely saying "Not interested" and closing the door in their face? Requires me to use energy,I have never bought anything from a doorstep salesperson, it says it all really if they have to go door to door with offers of free this and that to get customers is one such reason not to waste my time and energy having any involvement with them

Still, i see no reason to be rude to them.
The poor bloke has to do this to scrape a living. The company who employs the poor guy tell him what he has to do.
It is certainly not a very enjoyable a job. In fact i can think of a thousand things id rather do than try to sell things to the general public at their door step.
So just a polite no thankyou, and shut door, is the most human thing to do.

Its not. I wasn't taking a dig at you, or anyone personally. Sorry, i can see how i did make it seem like i was, but that's my fault sorry
Its just i know the salesmen must get so much abuse. i just wanted to post saying so.
Hell I've even been guilty of it before more than once.
