Hi guys,
I just got BT Infinity today and it's working well for me (touch wood).
My question relates to the speed of the service. When I do a speedtest at Speedtest.net it says my speed is "35.09 Mbps". However, when this is happening, I have a monitoring tool on my Mac and it says the inward speed is 4.0mb/s. I'm not sure how to interpret these results and would like some advice just!!
Thanks!
Gareth.

The Mac is showing MegaBytes/sec and the speedtest shows MegaBits/sec.

Ahh right, OK thanks.
So, is 4mb/s good for BT Infinity then?
Thanks!

If you look carefully on the Mac, you will the "B" is upper case. That is very important; 1B = 8b!

Hi there,
It's definitely MB/s I'm using iStat to measure the speed and it changes from KB/s to MB/s so everything is in uppercase.
But the 4mb/s is good though, right?

Right!
What is worth knowing is the IP Profile. That is slightly above the absolute maximum you could get for throughput.
http://speedtester.bt.com is the only thing that will tell you it.

Nahh, 4 milli bits per second is abysmal - a dead walrus could type faster than that.
Read wot thers have said - then you minght understand bits, Bytes, milli, Mega

4MB/sec is not too bad, I get 4.6. Have you tried a BT speedtest as this will give your profile (mine is 38717/10000 - which is the max profile).

Duh! I overlooked the "m" lower case in my haste
@OP: The "M" in upper case on your Mac is also very important; 1M = 1 million while 1m = 1 thousand th part.
