bbc or me at fault?

in an attempt to avoid the wedding I tried:

and get Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error.

Chromium, IE8, IE9 and firefox all have problems with lots of links suggesting the BBC are using an incompatible means of compression.

I get similar with FireFox on Linux. The Epiphany browser works OK though.

Virtually all links off that page fail for me.

My thought was someone came up with a quick wheeze for saving bandwidth for the wedding and used your browser to check his coding.

I have installed Epiphany and it doesn't error but doesn't finish displaying the page.

i guess i'll have to wait until after the wedding.

Content Encoding Error with FF and Vista. Beeb news site taking an age to load.

Same here with Opera plus Sky bb LLU. Most if not all BBC websites are hardly loading at all. Or if they do they take an age.

If you wanna check the live wedding footage out like i did and find you cant get to it via Iplayer. Youtube have a live stream of it and there servers are handling it abit better.

I resorted to the telly after 11am.

I was able to watch it via the BBC web site with no problem.

All back to normal (as of later yesterday afternoon).
It's highly probably the issue was just overloaded servers due to people watching the royal wedding online.
