Extension wiring and ADSL Filters

Hi

My master sockets (2 lines) have BT Openreach supplied built in ADSL filters on the face plate (physical lines into property replaced by BT 6 months ago).

When you remove the faceplate there are punch contacts for wires 2,3 & 5 - for adding extensions. My question is, if an extension is added in this way, does that also need a micro filter on the end of it or will it already be filtered?

Wire number 3 can be removed as not needed in this day & age.
ALL extension phone sockets need a filter fitted, even if no phone plugged in !
This includes Sky boxs

If you have filtered face-plates you do not need additional filters (although it won't do any harm). Only connect wires to pins 2 & 5.

John2007 is correct - the faceplate filters all your extensions too, so no additional filters required.

If using an ADSL faceplate filter, then no microfilter will be required on extensions connected to the krone terminations on the back of the faceplate.

Thanks, all - I'll take that as the answer then. Makes life significantly easier!

Just watch out for Sky boxes though. Some early ones needed double filtering, then the problem with them seemed to get fixed, but recently I think we have had a few HD ones needing it. So if you have any problems if you have one connected, try adding a filter where it connects.
