13 Mbps so perhaps 5 GB per hour. Long nights in the arctic circle.

No!

When you "signed up" over the phone, you merely placed an order. Your contract was not made until you received confirmation of your order or Welcome Pack, and you had read and accepted their T&Cs referred to therein, which does include a FUP: http://www.orange.co.uk/terms/7094.htm?linkfrom=term... . You then had 10 days under the Distance Selling Regs to cancel the whole contract.

Yes, the Sales Rep may have lied or maybe was confused with a FUP with a definite limit, which Orange does not have, but the onus is upon you to have read the T&C's when you received the paperwork.

You are naive if you think any cheap residential ISP is going to allow you to d/l 157 GB in 1 night, let alone 1 month frown

Hi, on Orange LLU the fair use policy is considered 40GB a month, if you are on WBC it could be the BT equipment has throttled your connection, is you exchange 21CN WBC enabled?

It's not documented!

Even if it's BT that's operating the FUP, the OP's contract is with Orange and it will be under their T&Cs.

In my experience - yes. Even when I was on their old 20gb limited package I regularly dl'ed 3 times that with no problems - they then brought in 2gb and unlimited, and if you went over the lower package they "automatic upgraded" you.

I would think twice about moving your phone line over to Sky though - lots of problems and costs if you want to move away in future.

Dude,

How did you blag a mac code for free when you in contract?

I am also having issues with orange at the moment, the funny thing is it all started off brilliant for about a year or so on one line and 3 months on another line at separate addresses and now during peak times some serious case of throttled speeds when downloading.
