PPP authentication

I have a very intermittant connection at the moment.
My training history shows the dropping and re- training up to 50 times a day.

My ISP 'Xilo' says this isnt happening as imy session has lasted for several days!
and that it must be my router.
I have changed routers but still the same.
when the line is down i can test which says
DSL Synchronization UP
G. DMT ATM Signal UP
PVC Connection UP
PPPoA Service UP
PPP Authentication Unable to connect to login service
IP Connection _
DNS Communication _

what does this mean exactly and what do you think i need to do to rectify it.

Your ISP's Authentication Server is DOWN! Kick your ISP!

Sounds like you have the router settings wrong. What router is it?

No, it was not.

The actual issue the user is seeing is rate changes every few seconds, however, this is not seen on the reports from BT, and they're not even seeing it when checked manually.

Likewise, during all these "drops" reported by the router, the user was not re-authenticating at all - neither BT were seeing these auth attempts, or were they being passed across from their RADIUS. (i.e they had a session lasting hours, whereas the report from there router is seeing changes every few minutes)

You are describing the symptoms but not diagnosing the malady!

At the moment, that is part of the fault raised to BT.

We don't just have a single RADIUS server, so chances of all of them (in three different datacentres, in three different parts of the country) being "down" are slim to none.

I suspect that from the data the user provided where he is seeing the rate changes on the router itself, that it has started the login process but had a rate change and wasn't able to complete the request, so the router erroneously reports an auth issue.
