I placed an order on BT.com for a BT phone service, which will be activated on my line on Friday August 5th. I've noticed that the line has a number which rings out but not in and the broadband connects on the line but I need the PPOA login for that. I took the stats from It and I'm very pleased with the stats.
Here's the stats for that connection (DG834Gv3):

Connection Speed 16863 kbps 909 kbps
Line Attenuation 14 db 3 db
Noise Margin 12 db 12 db
Here's the stats for the Sky connection (DG834GT with DGTEAM FW):

Connection Speed 19678 kbps 1150 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.0 db 9.8 db
Noise Margin 4.2 db 8.6 db
I'm pretty sure that line has a HR fault because I can hear noise on the line and I can disconnect/re-connect the broadband by ringing the number for that line. (TalkTalk ended up costing me £180 for 1 months broadband so I'm not interested in that line)
My question is are they running some kind of line tests?
