O2 or Sky LLU

[link to this post]

Hi

I'm moving house and going to get rid of Vivaciti/opal Full LLU. I am just getting phone probably from BT or Post Office and get Partial LLU for broadband.

My exchange will have AOL, O2, BE, Orange, Talktalk, Tiscali and Tiscali TV.

Which is better out of O2 and Sky LLU, i would be looking at sky unlimited and o2 all rounder package.

I download torrents/p2p.

Sky would be better for torrents

o2 throttles them from midday till midnight

if i remember right

also skys unlimited while the all rounder has a FUP of 100GB.

O2 is hevily throttled for p2p applications, therefore i would say Sky would be the better choice

The Traffic Management is 24/7.. Restricted speeds are below:

Streaming = 8 meg

Peer to Peer Off Peak = 0.25 meg

Peer to Peer Peak = 0.1 meg

o2 really throttles that much and only quarter meg even off peak that is shocking!

Looks like sky it is.

I'm presuming I'm correct in thinking avoid AOL, Orange, Tiscali and talktalk? Well i don't want talktalk for being full LLU.

What are your views on Be? They are a lot more expensive though, but heard good things.

Orange is no longer LLU, it is a BT Wholesale White label service like the Post Office and Vodaphone.

Tiscali TV is a strange one - does it still exist?

Tiscali LLU does not. It is now part of TalkTalk.

IIRC vivaciti can in now offer shared LLU on Opal, (TalkTalk Business Wholesale).

Having said all that, I too would suggest the Sky Unlimited. But if that is fully utilised already, do not go to Sky Connect, which is the non LLU product. That is like O2 Access but worse.

There is always the possibility of Be of course. That is still unlimited and no traffic management.

Whatever you do, check for cashback for the supplier on Quidco or Topcashback!

i would go with BE there becuase they do not block any p2p downloads and truely unlimted as well 24/7 speed stays the same no matter time of day

You say O2 or Sky LLU but then don't mention Sky in the LLU list. Could you confirm that Sky LLU is an option?

The legacy TV customers still exist although rebranded to TalkTalk. Haven't been new signups on the product for a long while. Presumably it will be subsumed when YouView comes about.

Hi, good point but sky is in exchange also.
So sky or be. Be is a lotmore expensive so i'll try sky unlimited. What does sky do traffic management wise for torrents.

Hi

Thank you for the advice.

I've been chatting to sky and seems if you don't take sky talk/line rental you only get partial LLU so I'll be not talkng sky phone.

Is there anyway for me to migrate from Vivaciti LLU (using talktalk equipment in my exchange) to Sky LLU? I'm on full LLU curently.

I think I'm going to have to cancel Vivaciti and pay £58 then sign up with a phone company i.e. BT, Post Office which i may have to pay, i want to keep my number but we moving to a different exchange but same area code.
Then sign up to Sky LLU for just broadband.

Has anyone got any advice please?

Update.

You can't take Sky Broadband without taking line rental with them!

What do people think of Orange broadband now they resell BT 21CN? I've looked at prices on their site and it seems to be £10 for broadband without a orange mobile phone and then £12.75 line rental. If you choose just broadband they seem to charge £17.75
This kinda of suggests how companies charge if you don't take their full llu product and makes it more expensive to have a BT style phone line, yet reports suggest Orange stopped their LLU and now resell 21CN

That's because you've taken so long deciding.

It was posted here several days, if not a week or so, ago that as of 1 September this would be the case.
